Maya Crawford Peacock is the Executive Appointments Director for Governor Tina Kotek. The Governor makes appointments to nearly 270 Boards and Commissions representing a broad range of areas and issues for the State of Oregon. This also includes most major state agencies and departments headed by policy-making boards which are appointed by the Governor. As Executive Appointments Director, Maya helps to recruit and vet applicants to Governor appointed boards, and support board members once appointed. Prior to working for Governor Kotek, Maya was the Executive Director of the Campaign for Equal Justice, the support organization for Oregon’s legal aid programs. Prior to heading the CEJ, she was the Statewide Pro Bono Manager for Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO), where she coordinated pro bono initiatives for Oregon’s statewide legal services programs. Maya is a 2003 graduate of Lewis and Clark Law School and went to Antioch College for her undergraduate degree.
Annie Ellison has criss-crossed the country working on campaigns for progressive Democrats from statewide to statehouse offices, City Council and Congress in the Midwest, South, East Coast, Oregon and California. Before joining Emerge, Annie worked with women candidates up and down the ballot, including Sen. Wendy Davis in Texas, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan, Assemblywoman Joann
Downey in New Jersey, and in 2020 managed the winning campaign of Secretary of State Shemia Fagan (Emerge Class of 2009) in Oregon. She also served as spokesperson in the Capitol Hill office of Congressman Ami Bera (D-CA-07) following his tough 2016 re-election, and as communications director for Mayor Ted Wheeler’s first successful Mayoral campaign. When her laptop is closed, Annie is most likely playing soccer with the Portland Netrippers, reading the news or speaking loudly on the phone, probably about or with women running for office.
